    • : the wood of a pine tree that is often used to make furniture

  • the straight-grained white or yellow usually durable and resinous wood of a pine varying from extreme softness in the white pine to hardness in the longleaf pine

Uses : Pine trees are the most commercially important species of trees, valued for their timber and wood pulp. Pine wood is widely used in high value carpentry items such as furniture, window frames, paneling, floors, and roofing. Pine trees make attractive ornamental plantings for parks and larger gardens. Pine cones are craft favorites. Pine trees are commercially grown and harvested for Christmas Trees. Pine needles can also be used for making decorative items such as baskets, pots, trays, etc.

Some species of pine trees have large seeds, called pine nuts that are harvested and sold for cooking and baking. The white inner bark found clinging to the outer bark is edible and very high in vitamins A and C. Also, a tea can be made by young, green pine needles in boiling water. This is also very high in vitamins A and C.
