Description : Ferrous lactate, or iron(II) lactate, is a chemical compound consisting of one atom of iron (Fe2+) and two lactate anions.
Ferrous lactate, which is often referred to as iron (ii) lactate, is a widely used compound for iron supplementation that is most frequently found in infant formula. The additive has been deemed safe for use by children in proper doses and is suitable for consumption across all religious groups. Ferrous lactate also meets all of the requirements for vegetarian and vegan diets. This makes it a popular solution to food fortification needs without potential complications. Ferrous lactate is also commonly used as an acid regulator and colour retention agent.
